2001 Season - Week 21
Superbowl XXXVII
Defense beats offense as Tampa Bay’s number 1 defense completely stuffed the Raiders number 1 offense through three quarters, totally deserving to lift the Lombardi Trophy. After the Raiders got no closer than 34-20 how cruel were the two Int’s returned by the Bucs for TD’s inside the final two minutes. They resulted in Rich Gannon ending his League MVP and record setting season with another record - most Interceptions in the Superbowl with 5.
BUMSBowl VII
Leading 15-10 with a few minutes left in the third quarter Chief’s dream of the double folded as he was shut out in the rest of the game & Marcus put up 20 more points to retain the BUMSBowl he first won last year and his claim as the only owner to do the Double.
Supergames
Congratulations to Paul who made the biggest profit on Sunday night being closest to the Final score and sharing the Quarterly picks with Marcus and the highest scoring Superbowl team with Cheryl. That’s £24 for a £5 stake. Aaron was the closest to the half-time score and won £12 while Johnny and Andy H took £6 each for predicting Sebas would score first.
ALL-BUMS 2002
Priest Holmes was clearly the number one player in the league and is the starting Running Back for the second consecutive year. This year he polled 41 out of a maximum 48 points (86% of the points available) with 15 of 16 owners putting him on their ballot papers. He is joined in the backfield by first-timer Ricky Williams. Daunte Culpepper is the starting QB for the 2nd time in 3 years. It’s the Receivers where a select few dominate each year. Terrell Owens starts for a second consecutive year having also started in 1998 and been a back up in 2000. Three starts ties the record of Running Back Marshall Faulk (1999-2001) and Jerry Rice (1995, 1996 and 2001). Jerry is also a back up this year. However Tim Brown holds the record with his fifth appearance in the team. He is a back-up again this year after starting in 2000 and backing-up in 1997, 1999 and 2001. See the full team attached.
